Meet 925plan intern Noah Berman, the student designer who brought the Roll Tide Connecticut website to life:

After starting my freshman year at the University of Alabama, I wanted to find ways to get involved on campus. I joined a student-run newspaper, The Crimson White, as a videographer and began covering news stories and sports events. As I continued to film, edit, and produce stories, I realized the importance of gaining experience in the field I am passionate about. Showing that I am capable of creating my best work, even on tight deadlines, opened up new opportunities. 

When I began working with 925plan as a website designer intern, it showed how every professional skill builds on each other. With most of my previous experience being in communications and media, building a website seemed like an entirely different task. However, I found that my past experience in social media management and graphic design helped make the website design process clear. In addition, it gave me the new skill of website design and another internship I can put on my resume. Although I initially had doubts that my skillset aligned with website design, I found that I was a lot more qualified than I had thought. 

My best advice is to not be afraid of failure when it comes to applying to jobs and internships. I have found that you never know what can happen if you never try. Don’t be hesitant to apply to a job because once you put yourself out there, doors start to open. It’s important to use every opportunity to network with employers and other industry professionals. In addition, keeping in touch with those you meet shows that you are serious about finding a job. Staying connected can lead you to the right opportunities down the line.
